Hey,
I just bought a white 2015 Taurus SHO which will be arriving on Thursday. It has relatively low miles for being 6 years old but I was wondering what I should check before I take delivery of the car.
I've never owned a turbo charged vehicle and I am mechanically inclined but I don't know a lot about troubleshooting engines.

Thanks

First of all, welcome. In regards to what to check over before/at the time of delivery, there isn't much besides checking the oil that is quick and simple, and even that might not tell you much if the engine is cold as any junk that might be in there could be at the bottom of the oil pan and no where near the dipstick . . .

What I usually do, and would suggest, is to check all the fluids and replace/top off as needed once you get the car. What you find for fluid condition and capacity will kind of give you an idea of what you're getting into.

I would check if the PTU is leaking gear oil. That's usually a bad sign since the PTU might be failing. PTU is the Power Transfer Unit, which is hooked directly into the transmission. I'd also check to see if the turbos are leaking oil, although that would probably require a lift/jackstands. Lastly, make sure the engine oil doesn't have coolant in it or any cold startup rattle - water pump/timing chain job. These cars are known for the mentioned issues.
