hey, I have a 98 SHO, the headlights are very bad, yellowed. They do not throw out light very well. I have done all the cleaning, polishing I can, using the Plastx, and another headlight polish kit. It worked a little, but really did not restore the headlight good enough. I would like to replace the lights. I would guess Ford would still have them, but if I can get somewhere else, less expensive, that would be better. I would like to add a set of fog/driving lights, as well. Any good suggestions for this?

thanks for the responses!!

They have new replacements fairly cheap on ebay but they haze over relatively quickly. I wouldn't recommend them. I speak from experience. Use a search for the fog lights. Check out V8sho.com too.

I have a set off of Ebay, that are tinted black. Only the reflector is mirror, everything else is black.... Looks sick, and I use Xenon blubs. Much light.

Depends how long you plan on keeping the car. There should be archived info here on people's experiences with aftermarket lights. The oem are far superior in quality but you will pay a high premium.

I know mine started to haze after a year. I would rather use PlastX once a month on the OEM's (which is what I do).

You don't have a pic of those lights do you?? There was some tinted ones along time ago (year or more) I wanted but haven't seen them since. I know some of the OEM ones were black on the inside but the tinted ones looked awesome!! Thanks for any info.....

The best ones are the '99 OEMs. OEM for best quality and [correct me if I'm wrong] '99s for the black housings :thumb: Not to mention since they are newest basic logic tells us they will be in the best condition, though we all know that doesn't always hold true.

Honestly, your best bet is to find the cleanest possible from a junkyard.

I see you're from central NC. Us NC folks have been trying to put together a winter meet, while it doesn't seem to promising on having one at the moment, if we do you are more than welcome to come :thumb: Info will be posted in the Tidewater SHO Club forum as it becomes available

Just check on ebay... black Taurus headlights. About $100 for a pair.

Send me your email, and I can email you some pics.

Get TYC replacement headlight housings - they are CAPA certified. The other brand is Eagle Eye, and they have horrible rubber surrounds. The TYC reflectors are inferior to OEM ones, so swap the reflectors from your original headlight housings into the TYC housing for the best beam pattern.

I purchased a pair of housings for $140 shipped. Of course, I can't for the life of me remember where I bought them from.

I bought a "used" headlight from an LKQ auction. It looked new to me. I can't pull the trigger though on another one. But, the listing was the same word for word as what is still up there.

Wow, I guess I replaced it almost two years ago. It survived the accident last April. I polish the driver side about every two months and it looks ok.

I miss my painted radiator support...

Also I recommend a 98 or 99 headlight. I think the silver/chrome surround looks kinda cheezy on the 96-97 Taurus.

Again, my personal opinion, fwiw.

Arghhh I just bid on one. I miss how clean my car was! Winter!!!

Yes, LKQ auction amazes me again. This headlight looks BRAND NEW, is a factory Ford part, and looks 10x better in person. I do need to touch up the paint on the back side near where the fender is. But the lens is crystal clear. Best $38 you can spend for headlights.

Yes that is a Pug, and that is a back seat out of my car. The cloth SHO seats are in now. :)
