sup guys.....

so as of right now ive only owned mazdas, and have done a bit of engine management/custom turbocharging, but never a custom motor swap. ive searched for info on the forums i frequent and it's very limited. right now, im going for what is easiest to get it up and running. if anyone has any pointers on this swap, im all ears.

ive heard of people using the stock sho engine/tranny with custom mounts and custom half shafts. i have also heard of people using the stock ford probe vulcan transmission, in combination with custom mounts to make it all bolt up, stock vulcan half shafts and hubs (which are the same as my mx6 gt)

anyways. if i cant get much info off the net, i guess ill just have to figure it all out myself. ive yanked the whole engine bay clean out of the mx6, and really dont want to deal with the f2t any longer, or the fe3 i once planned on putting in. i need something that will make over 400whp somewhat reliably. i plan on boosting probably next year sometime, a stock block running on e85. ive got my mind set to have 450-500whp on a single turbo setup. is that feasible?

Thats what I would do :

keep everything SHO including the tranny , make mounts and have custom shafts. Until you have 400hp you may want to weld the inner sho shaft with the outer MX shaft to fit your knuckles. Theres a shop around here that does that (also welds custom driveshafts on a special lathe).

Then with the 400+hp you might wanna have custom shafts.

Another idea is to custom fit the whole SHO subframe unit under the MX , you would have to fit that , but it would save you the engine/trans mounts.

SHO really love boost , we have a couple here that are in the 500+hp , but it takes a good size turbo , big ass injectors and a tuner.

Welcome in.

the f2t and FE are both very reliable. and you will make more power with either of those dollar for dollar over trying to shoehorn an SHO motor into an MX6 GT.

if you are dead set. i wish you luck.

there nitrous and forged pistons for sale in the FS section, that otta put you there.

I'd stick with the SHO tranny. You might be able to piece together driveshafts from multiple cars, ie outer joint from an MX6 and inner from a SHO, or something.

I can't for the life of me remember if he used a SHO subframe or not, but I know the 927 (RX-7 with 3.0 V6 out of a Mazda 929s) has a turbo II rear suspension setup with custom mounting points. But he most certainly used the SHO tranny in the 626.

and just for fun, a SHO powered Nissan Pulsar, also with the SHO MTX-IV...for those who remember, this was Secret Project X5.

it has some clearance issues.....

I think he was using a hybrid axle in the 626...or possibly a SHO axle. I know we had to create some axles for the pulsar using SHO inners and nissan outers with modified lengths. How difficult would it be to use the spindles from the SHO on the MX-6? how different is the mounting setup?

i have a friend right now putting a sho engine in a focus and making it (awd). but if you do use the sho tranny remember to get a wavetrack or weld your diff pin or Kaboom!!!!

or refrain from doing high RPM clutch drops and shifting like it's a rally bred dogbox.

alright so long time no post. i finally got the transmission out of a vulcan probe, and was able to bolt it up to the sho motor by cutting a small chunk of metal out where the clutch cylinder operates. doing it this way allows the sho intake manifold to fit under the hood. it also saves me having to make custom mounts all around. i will only need to make one for the passenger side top mount....the intermediate shaft for the passenger cv is a slight concern of mine, but i will have to address that once i get the engine all bolted in

so i got the engine in the engine bay. there is definitely no room for the power steering on that side of the engine, or the bracket it mounts to. since the tensioner for that belt is there, that would mean i wont have a belt to run my water pump off of.......

ive been trying to think of a way to get around this. my best thinking is i somehow find a different pulley for the water pump, or a way to extend the pulley out further to run with the alternator (and ill probably try to relocate the ps where the ac goes) and just run a serpentine belt.

any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated right now....im wanting to get this unit up and running within the next few months =D
