Hi everyone. I've been checking the site out for a while now. I'm a licensed auto technician from Ontario Canada. Bought my 11 SHO back in April of this year and I love it. Just drove it around for the first couple of months. Last week while on holidays I changed all the fluids on the car. The PTU fluid was nasty. I also installed my oil catch can front and rear drilled pads and rotors h&r lowering springs, k&n air filter and window vents. Also Plasti dipped the rear chrome tail lights. Next on my list is something with the grille. And hopefully by winter I'll get a tune for it. Hoping someone might know of anyone in Ontario who does tuning? Anyways there is lots of great info here.

No PICS of this beauty??? Oh well. Welcome anyway :nut:

I would keep an eye on that PTU fluid. May need to do another change relatively soon to actually clean out the prev gunk.

Most people remote tune nowadays, be it Unleashed, Livernois, etc.

Here's some pics. Ya I was a little concerned about the condition of the ptu fluid especially not knowing when it was done last. I flushed it out with about 3 quarts of 75 140 synthetic gear oil. It appeared alot cleaner when I was done. Gonna drive it for a month then do it again. I know most tunes are remote nowadays was hoping for a Canadian supplier to avoid the duty and import charges. From all the research I've done im thinking of going with an unleashed tune

Beautiful car! The painted calipers are a nice touch.

Sales and deals do come up from time to time on Unleashed's site, so unless you can get a hold of a used X4, that may be the way to go.

From the manual

Power Transfer Unit (PTU)
The AWD system consists of the following:
  • PTU
  • Rear driveshaft
  • 4X4 control module
  • Rear axle with coupling device
The PTU is a mechanical device attached to the transaxle. It supplies torque to the rear axle through the rear driveshaft. The 4X4 control module is an electronic device which controls the rear axle coupling to apply the torque generated from the PTU to the rear wheels when required.
