Hi, i'm a first time SHO owner, just found this site today.I know a little about them but please everyone TEACH ME MORE! I bought a '91 mtx over the weekend for 1500.00. The guy said the bottom end was rebuilt 10,000 miles ago but no paper work, figures huh, said it has an 80+ hp chip (it gets loose from a 30 mph punch in first) and new clutch. It's not beat up, afew little rust spots and minor things here and there but nothing big deal. I have to get plates and then its time to have fun. Any comments on what I should look for as far as trouble spots would help. Thanks STL SHO

You can't even get 8 hp out of a chip, most chips lose power from stock. The bottom end of the Yamaha is indestructable and never needs rebuilding, just rod bearing replacement and nothing more. There's plenty of folks racing their original blocks with over 200k on them and one guy racing his with 400k miles and no rebuild. It gets loose at 30 mph in first because it has an open differential, your tires are worn a bit, and just one tire is slipping. Sorry to burst your bubble but thems theres the facts.

I bought the car in Festus MO from a guy in his fiftys who had moved here from Indiana, he said he was the second owner.He gave me the window sticker and it has the 211a pkg.? is that the plus pkg. because the car has the fiberglass hood.

Alot of 91's had the plus hood. Ford just threw on whatever they had it seems. I don't know the package code but does it have a little spoiler and chrome window trim? Btw, what color is it? Interior color too.

If its black on Black with Borla exhaust its not a Plus but the old dude was sure it was even when I pointed out what made mine a Plus.
