Hey everyone. the other day I broke a mortor mount and that caused me to bust my dis becuase the engine would raise up and the back would go down and smash the dis on a bracket. Anyway I raplaced the DIS and befor I new it was a motor mount it did the same thing, so I parked it and figured it out. So today I tried to start it at least and it didn't go at all. Before it did. even with the broken DIS. The case was just cracked so if I did not give the engine any gas to cause it to raise it would start and idle great. It is getting plenty of fuel, the fuel pump primes. Infact it is getting flooded becuase it will turn over but not start. So I put on a new DIS thinking that would help but it did'nt. Not sure if it is getting spark to the plug I did'nt check that out yet. The wheather today is kind of warm in Minnesota so the snow is melting and there is fog in the air. Can there be a moister problem? Yesterday I pulled off the sun roof covering for the switch to reglew a bracket, could I have blown a fuse of some kind that would not make it start? are there engine codes I have to enter to reset the whole sytem. Before I new it was an engine mount I had already replaced the DIS once just a few days ago, plugged it in and it worked fine? Don't know what could be the problem? Who is the guy with the white sho with him and his kid kneeled down by it? and whare is he when you need him? Help me out man. Thanks, JOHNSON

I discovered the interference between the roll damper bracket and the rear DIS plug when I lowered the subframe to replace the rear subframe bushings many years ago. Tough way to find out, eh?

Verify that you aren't getting a spark. If not, you may not be getting a good ground to the DIS module. It is essential that this module be well grounded to the chassis. The ground strap from the chassis to the intake is the strap connected to the upper bolt on the passenger side rear manifold bracket by the brass 15mm nut. The two 12mm bolts that secure the intake crossover tube to the plenums are another link in the ground chain. The last link is probably the one that was affected during the DIS changes and that is the four screws that hold the DIS to the manifold. Did they all go back on intact?

Did you reapply any heat sink compound to the rear of the DIS before installing? That is available at Radio Shack in the soldering supplies area. Very small (.23 oz) tube of the white heat sink compound.

You should not have to reset anything after installing the new DIS unless you disconnected the battery. That would necessitiate the idle program reset (search on those words).

Hey I found out that my whole problem from the start was a subframe braket went bad on me. The engine mount was realy good, and to make things even better Ford had a recall on that part so they will fix my subrame bracket and replace my DIS that broke from it. Praise God I don't have to spend $600.00 in parts and labor.
