Just had a local transmission shop replaced my clutch. The brand is "LUK" - supposedly the same exact unit that was put in the car, when I purchased it back about 6-7 years ago. The only problem or concern is.... my clutch feels really soft. I don't remember it being this soft even when I first bought my car (fresh from new clutch install). Should I be concerned??

Just as long as it is engaging and disengaging properly, a soft silky smooth clutch is normal for a freshly installed clutch :)

Be sure to enjoy it while it lasts! :naughty:

Amen! :thumb: How is engagement? Little pedal travel? High pedal? If it engages fine, shifts fine, and clutches out within a comfortable pedal travel, you should be mint!

It "seems" to be functioning fine... it's just that it's very soft, compared to what I was used to. So... you're saying that the clutch is going to feel normal over time? If so... how long :)

it could be that you're not used to a smooth operating TOB. Really, an OE pressure plate and clutch aren't big time clampers and are intended to work soft and smoothly.

Yeah could be.... but when I purchased the car, it has the same exact cluth kit (pressure plate, TOB, re-surfaced flywheel, etc) installed. The clutch had maybe less than 200 miles on it when the car was bought. I don't ever remember it being this soft.... then again that was 7 years ago... I just wanted to make sure I didn't get a "downgraded" clutch. People that I have spoken to suggested that if the cluth is softer, it could be a downgraded clutch. :oogle:

If you had a stock clutch , theses no way you can 'downgrade' the aftermarket companies makes em OEM like.

Even if theres a 5% loss on it (due to cheaper materials) you still win , cose you just saved a couple hundred bucks.
