when you put new clutch in did you adjust your cable. from what i have heard the clutch pedal has an adjustment ratcheting arm that takes up the slack in the cable. i think you need to release the tention from cable due to a new clutch

It tells you in your owners manual how to do it...I think u just pull up on the clutch pedal sitting still, not in any gear. Do this a few times and push it to the floor a few times, etc.

on a side note...I shouldn't have ate that can of beans before bed last night oh_my frown

You pull upwards on the clutch pedal with about 10 pounds of force. This will remove any slack from the cable, but it won't help the clutch disk grab the flywheel any better. it will only help the release point be higher in the pedal's travel. If anything, you may want to release the pawl and press upward on it with a finger to add a little slack to the cable.

You may want to ask the shop if they resurfaced the flywheel and with what type of lathe. It requires an orbital cross-cut rather than the record groove cut of a brake lathe. There is a lack of friction between the friction disk and the pressure plate and flywheel. It may just need more break in to get all of the flywheel's surface in contact with the disk.

After finding out how much effort it was to remove and replace the clutch, I would be quite upset in your shoes right now. I'm sorry for your troubles. Hopefully the friction will increase over a few more break in miles.

I know they did resurface the flywheel!I will have to call up there and talk to them about it! I paid 700$ to not have it working right:mad:

Very sorry to hear about this, but the shop that serviced the clutch is obligated to get it installed and working correctly as part of the service contract.

Good luck with that, and be sure to remind them that it isn't working properly (plain and simple). Make sure they also know that you broke it in. Above all, trying being friendly at first to the people (but upset with what happened). From working in retail, I can tell you this is the best way to get service. Then if they give you a hard time for too long, begin to get a little harsher.

They went out on a test drive for it and It didnt slip for them!IT will only slip if I launch it or try to race someone!RPM's just shoot up like crazy and then the nasty smell from the clutch!Right when I left the shop i tried it again and sure enough it did it again! How can i tell them,I cant say really its when I am racing can I?

sounds to me like they didn't clean the flywheel after resurfacing it. Sounds like the disc is glazed, or they took too much slack out of the cable, and the PP isn't clamping completely.

I would go back to the shop and tell them that it is still not right. Have one of the mechs ride along with you and show them excatly what it is doing. If it didn't slip from the factory with that kind of driving it shouldn't slip now.

any other sugestions?
Yeah, but you're not going to like it... :(

I suggest you start shopping for a new or late-model used car which comes with a full factory bumper-to-bumper warranty. Between your problems with the tranny shop for your since-torched ATX and now your problems with the clutch job, you don't seem to be able or willing to deal with a vendor in any way which will actually get you the services you pay for.

As several people have suggested in this thread, the BEST thing for you to do would be to TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE SHOP THAT INSTALLED THE CLUTCH and have them correct the problem. Complaining about it here or asking for suggestions that don't involve getting what you paid for from the shop that did the clutch isn't going to fix your problem.

I really don't mean to pick on you, but I just hate to see someone throw money away by paying for a service and then not making sure that the shop did the work they were paid to do and correct any problems with their work...
