If you don't know what's goin' on with my transmission, do a search of the fourm and you'll find all about my endless tranny problems.

The tranny shop that's checkin' out my new rebuilt transmission says that the 6 or so screws that holds the plate around the stater shaft worked their way out and the seal worked itself out too. That's why it's leakin' fluid everywhere. Either the shop that rebuilt it forgot to Loc-Tite it or the stater shaft being able to move forced them out.

At this point can I ask them to pay for someone else to rebuild it? The shop it's at says they'd be very hesitant to just replace the seal and screws and I've sent the tranny back one time already. How do I go about askin' the place that rebuilt it to refund my money and pay for the bill up until this point?

Just tell them...hey, you guys screwed up and I want a refund. If they refuse, threaten legal action.

The only way to find out is to ask. You've mentioned before that your dad is a lawyer. It sounds like this is at the point that it would probably be best to avail yourself of that if they refuse to make things right. It doesn't necessarily have to end up in a lawsuit -- a couple of phone calls from a lawyer can often help things get resolved quickly.

Give them the chance to do the right thing first. You draw more flies with honey. If they refuse, get the new shop's statement in writing, and stop off at small claims on the way home.
