Does anyone know if you have to adjust or reset your timing when you install a new timing belt? Mine is shredded and I'm going to be putting in another one tommorow. Also, since my timing belt came off, am I supposed to keep the crank from turning once I remove the serpintine belt? I have never done a timing belt on my SHO and could use any advice. I don't want to get the car back together and then the timing is off.

If the timing belt is already broken do you think I can still bump the starter like that to get the crank bolt loose?

The SHO motor is a non-inference motor - so don't be afraid to turn the crankshaft and cams independent of each other.

Yeah, if it wasnt a non-intf. motor the thing would be on its way to the parts listing. What about the cams when I'm aligning the sprockets and the belt; I should only turn them clockwise correct? Do they both turn together, or can they turn independently? Thanks alot.

Okay, I just wasn't sure if i'd f*** valves up moving the cam in the opposite direction that it normally moves. I'm only going to move it clockwise anyways, but now at least I know. Thanks bro.

The crankshaft can be rotated either way. Why do you say that it should be rotated only clockwise?

..because that is the way the motor spins and the way the oil pump turns. So, just to maintain the consistency - and if you spin it the other way you are actually pumping oil out of the motor via turning the oil pump the opposite direction.

Which is why I said should turn it that way not only....I'm sure it doesn't hurt it the other direction. But, I like to refrain from doing so.

That's what I thought too, it can be moved backward, but probably shouldn't be considering all it does is spin forward for a living ya know?

Anyways, thanks. We'll see how everything works once I get it apart. That is assuming that I didn't break one of the tensioners or sprockets in there.
