My 1995atx has some major problems. First off I replaced the starter, wires, plugs, air filter, fuel filter, Egr valve, DPFE, and I still have the CEL coming on for a EGR problem. Also driving the car the other night it just died. It wouldn't restart. So I had it towed to my mechanic. He put his machine on and got a couple codes. I don't remember the numbers. By the way he started the car to bring it in to the garage. It woulld never start for me. We checked the fuel pressure and everything is good. We pulled a plug wire for spark. There wasn't any. The first thing out of the computer was DIS. So we got a new. Car would start for 5 minutes and then would stall out. What is next. I really enjoy this car. Please help.

Your EGR passages inside the intake are probably clogged due to age and miles, which is what is causing your CE light. It is best to remove the intake and clean it completely and pay special attention to the EGR ports. Your SHO will run a lot smoother after this.

I found it easier to completely disassemble my intake and clean it thoroughly - I did this at 154k, for the first time in the cars life and it made a huge difference.

The intake also has access ports to assist in clearing out the EGR passages for when you have it apart.

I would bet that your starting problem is the crankshaft sensor either being ruined by a leaking waterpump, or just failing on its own.

It is possible that it is a CID problem or grounding the DIS improperly, but CPS from the sounds of it is most likely.

How many miles are on it?

sounds more like the egr code is for it being stuck open, then causing his engine to die because of the large vacuum leak.
