Any one know where I might be able to fing a piece of billet aluminum ~ 6 inches long, 2" high and 1/2 " thick? If anyone here has a connection I would appreciate getting my hands on 2 of these. I have some interesting things in the works.

Local scrap yards and aluminum recyclers will have scrap pieces cheap. The billet may be much harder to find, and more expensive. Is thre a reason you need billet over a standard T6061?

Thanks guys!

T6160 should be just fine. It doesn't need to be real expensive, but decent quality. I could use steel too but would love alum to keep weight down.

You mean 6061-T6, right - I've got literally tons of the stuff in our shop. For that small of an amount, try a recycler first or a local machine shop, on ocasion they will have scrap laying around and would be happy to sell it for more than what they can get for scrap value - you will pay through the nose for new stuff.
