I have the opportunity to purchase a 99 sho for $1500. The car looks great, and the engine is strong. The catch is... the transmission is doing weird things (so the owner says). I was wondering, would it be worth it to buy this car for this price given that it may need a new transmission? What does a gen III usually sell for?

I havent a clue as far as helping you out with good information, but I got my 96 SHO for $2000 and the tranny is acting a bit wierd sometimes. I looked on autozone.com and you can get a tranny for a few grand so its up to you I would think.

tell him you are going to have to dump 3500 more into the car and try to get it for 1000. i mean thats what i would do and thats prolly why i only have 1500 in 5 cars lol.

Yea, I will surely try to get it cheaper. I have two gen II cars now That, through buying cheap and selling higher, I have basically gotten for free. Do all of the v-8's need to have the cams welded? If so, what does it cost? is it something a can do myself? That may be another angle for me to get cheaper.
I just got my daily driver (94 atx) back up and running and I have a 92 mtx that I am getting ready to drop a 3.2 into.
I must be crazy to be getting into all of these projects.

For welding, visit www.nesho.com or contact Mr.Anonymous or Kirk for more information.

I think everyone on this board at one time or another has taken their G2/G3 through their shop for work.

Even if you have to pay 1500 you can't get hurt the engine is worth that alone. I pay 1000 for bodies with bad engines all the time and normaly have to travel 300+ miles to get them

yeah, good luck with that. When I was shopping for a car, most of the ppl I called didnt return my messages for days or even a week! if I were selling my car, I would be returning calls like crazy.

Yep, never heard from the guy. And... he's still got the add running cl.
People either aren't interested in selling their car(s), have sold them, or are fishing.
I buy and sell slo's all the time (you wouldn't believe the simple problems people will give a car away for) and when I'm selling one, I return every call and answer every email. Even if it's sold to let them know. Common courtesy thing.
