I have been having what I thought was motor mount problems on my 95 mtx.
I started poking around underneath the car and found that the cast iron backet that the a.c. and alternator mount to is broken. The car is a 95 mtx with a 3.2 and all 3.0 accessories, and has the 130 amp alternator. I dug around in the shed, and I have a 93 mtx bracket, and an atx bracket. Are either of these brackets going to be the same, or do I need a 94/95 mtx specific bracket. Thanks for any information in advance, Kevin.

All the MTX brackets are the same, and the ATX brackets are quite different.

Has your a/c compressor been removed? That's usually why that bracket breaks. If so, you need to find a gutted compressor to reinstall or make a bracket brace to reinforce that cast bracket or it'll break again. The a/c compressor is a stressed member that helps strengthen the bracket.

Wow, I love this forum, 10 min for a reply. Yes, I just got the car, and There was no a.c. compressor. That is awesome, as I have a couple of mtx brackets to spare, and I have a couple of compressors to gut out. Thanks alot.

I hate to disagree with Eric, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to...

The '89-'93 alternator bracket and the '94-'95 bracket are indeed different on MTX cars. The ATX cars are even more different.

While you could technically make an '89-'93 bracket work on your '95, you would have to use the 90 amp Mitsubishi alternator and re-wire the regulator connection. Personally I would not want to go that route. You would be better off just finding the right bracket.

As Eric mentioned, the lack of an A/C compressor is a common reason for the brackets breaking.

Ah...that's entirely possible. Evidently I've been lucky or something, as I had no trouble mixing/matching when I was fussing with that stuff with the Pumpkin.
