Last night my car started leaking coolant. It was too dark to see the leak last night, but I just assumed it was the radiator. Today at closer look I see that it is a small U shaped hose on the front of the engine right by the oil filter. I can barely see it but what it looks like is a small hose that might come off the head then makes a U shape bend and connects to the block. It very hard to get a good look but thats what it looks like to me. Is this hose suppost to be like that or has something been bypassed? This appears to be a very simple repair of just loosening two clamps and replacing the hose but I am very limited on tools at the moment. Has anybody tackled this before? Is it better to go in from the top or the bottom? What would need to be removed to get to this hose and what tools would I need to do it? I know this sounds pretty stupid but with me just moving here the only tools I have are a pair of pliers and a screwdriver.

Theres lots of small hoses near the throttle body and underneath the throttle body. My advice to you is to go to autozone and rent the radiator pressure tester and pump your system <<20 psi and look for the coolant to squirt out. If you have to replace a hose, autozone can cut you a length for the smaller hoses. I think those smaller hoses are 1/4 or 1/2 in diameter.

I can see the hose that is leaking. Its on the front of the motor below the head. I dont need to pressure test the radiator, as soon I add coolant it starts to run out of this hose. The problem is that its in an awkward location and I cant tell if the hose is bad or just came loose. Also I dont think I will be able to get to it with the tools that I have.

That's one of the the oil cooler hose. One longer hose comes from the T-stat area and the U shaped one goes to the block.

NAPA 10775 for the U shaped one.

Bulk heater hose can be used for the longer one. I would replace all the cooling hoses on the car if it were me at this time. This U shaped one is the only one that cannot be replaced with bulk hose except the actual large radiator hoses. Be sure to replace the short 1.5" hose that connects the two coolant pipes together near the T-stat.
