Hey Guys,

I just got my transmission rebuilt (ATX), and now that I got it back, it has no power. I timed it to 60mph, it was 11 sec, where it used to be 8sec. It still has upper RPM power (went up to 120mph no problem. what could the problem be? the guy said it could be the torque converter they put in. it idles fine, revs fine?? I'm stumped? Please help if you have any ideas.

I don't know for sure, but i would say yes. everything feels the same except for off the line and up to 4000rpm. the car is just not moving!after that it's ok (120-130mph np)

My guess is that the secondaries are stuck open... Being that it is an ATX and the rev limiter in park is 4000 RPMs you might have a hard time visually seeing the secondaries open, but its worth a try.. Start the car, open the hood rev her up as high as she'll go and see if see the butterfly valves opening on the intake, if so this means they are functioning properly. Worth a try, but being an ATX I can remember if you can even get the secondaries to open in park..

I just went outside and tried that, and they are closed below 4000rpm. do you think it could be the torque converter? they took out the stock one and put something else in.... I didn't know it could make such a difference? opinions?

Well first question would be what did they put in place of the old? If it is from a SLO this may be a problem... Are you getting any CE light? If you are able to get to 120, it almost seems like your always in 2nd gear so you aren't getting that 1st gear kick to get you up to speed could be a possibility... have you tried throwing it into 1st position on the shifter and seeing what the difference was in power?

I've tried that, still no power. I think they thought they'd put in a TC from a SLO and it would be the same. JMHO. they are going to put the other one back in, so hopefully that will work. I didn't think the TC would make such a big difference, but I guess it does.

Rather than having them put the old back in, get a brand new one, if they are going to take the time to rip it apart for you to just replace the old one you might as well start with new.
