I'm going to install a JBL self-powered sub and want to know if there are any sources for the power in the trunk area. I'm assuming the single speaker in the rear deck is the stock sub and a good source for the speaker signal. Then I need to run the sub remote gain adjuster to somewhere convenient to adjust while driving.

Thanks for any input

Not that I'm aware of. And running a power wire through the firewall is a PITA. There are several posts about it in this forum. I highly recommend running a 4 gauge or larger if your system comes with a smaller one. I ended up upgrading my all-in-one and had to pull another wire through the firewall.

I spliced into the power wire from the trunk light to use as a power turn on signal for my amplifiers, but I would only power a subwoofer with a fused direct power wire ran from the battery.
If you pull the front left wheel and the wheel well liner it's not too hard to run a power wire through there, and I found a rubber grommet I could remove to run the power wire through the firewall.
I connected the ground wire to one of the bolts for the backseat seatbelts.
If your powered sub has speaker level inputs you can splice into the 6x9s in the rear deck, but I wouldn't use the tiny rear center speaker.

Thanks, I had Best Buy Total Tech start to install it on Saturday but the guy ran out of time and couldn't figure out how to run the power through the firewall. He taped a left speaker in the driver's side door pillar for the speaker signal. IDK if it was the door one or the rear deck (would it make a difference?).

It's best to pull signal from a left and right (matching) speaker set but subwoofers "should" be fine with a single signal.

There's a rubber grommet around the pedals that's probably easiest for that gauge wire. That's where I ran my first all-in-one sub wiring. I want to say it's where the hood release cable runs, but I could be wrong. Just peel back some the carpet and you can find it.

Or he can remove the trim under the wipers and run through the factory wiring harness if he's careful. I went that route my 2nd time.

The bass **** can be placed where ever you're most comfortable. I like mine right beside the button that controls the rear window screen.

If you have the sony stereo it has 6.5s in the 4 doors and 6x9s in the rear deck, along with 2 small like a 3.5 center speakers, one in the dash and one in the rear deck. It's possible that the factory sony amp sends less bass to the door speakers than to the 6x9s in the rear deck, but I couldn't say for sure. I just found a wiring diagram for the factory sony amp in the trunk and spliced into the speaker outputs from the amp.
Also, if I remember right, I found the grommet in the firewall from the wheel well side, and just fed wire into it until it dropped down by the brake pedal area

Thanks,

Can you send me the wiring diagram? Where in the trunk is the amp? I need to have the Remote ON wire hooked up it so my sub amp turns on and off

The amp is mounted on the left wall of the trunk, under the carpet. I spliced into the wiring for the trunk light for the remote on and it works... I only have a diagram of the speaker output connector on the factory sony amp but I will upload it.
