Hi SHOForum,

It's been a while. I am writing to inquire about the best place to buy brake parts. Currently my setup is Hawk Pads on Front and Rear. The fronts have 13 inch rotors and the rears are the stock size, maybe 9 or 10 inches IIRC. The rotors are a little over 3 years old and started rusting about 1 week into their installation, and now they're pretty bad.

I would like to buy new Hawk pads for front COBRA upgraded calipers and new 13 inch rotors for the front, and Hawk pads for the rear and new rotors in the rear. Where would you guys suggest I purchase these items. Also I have upgraded the lines to stainless. The rears are stock calipers with slotted rotors. The fronts are slotted too.

My goal is to get really good, long lasting perhaps coated rotors that wont rust an hour after installation. Perhaps a HAWK or equivalent pad that doesn't produce as much dust would be nice too but isn't a primary concern, I don't want to sacrifice braking too much. I'd rather have the stopping power and the dust.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you had any luck with rotors that don't rust? Obviously the swept area will rust after sitting. I never even thought about it up north. All that road salt just eats everything.

Maybe something with a zinc coating, or should I just buy the cheapest 13 inch rotors for the fronts and the cheapest for the rears and put a hi-temp paint in the non contact areas?

What are the quality differences in rotors, and where would you reccommend I go for rotors and pads?

welp SHOsource has cobra brake rotors already drilled in the bolt pattern for the SHO, but I don't know how many different options they have in rotors

tirerack.com has a lot of different rotors, but these would be drilled for a mustang bolt pattern, and you would have to drill them out to fit your wheel studs yourself... if you are comfortable with that, then they have many options

I looked under a 04 Mach 1 which uses your brakes for the rotors tire rack has

some of them have a coating they say withstands 400 hours of saltwater exposure before they rust... so I would look for something like that if your are wanting a longer good looking apearance with the rotor
