ok, i was unbolting my subframe, i got the first three bolts off with no problem, the last one just keeps spinning, so i know something is wrong, how do i fix it?, also, anyone have a writeup on how they removed/moved their tranny in order to replace the clutch? i need help asap

cut a hole in the floor,you can get a subframe kit from ford with a new bolt,a new speed nut and a plug for the new hole in the floor as well as the instrustions for where the hole should be.

sweet, maybe mine already had the recall done, hopefully it did, i dont have the time to wait for the kit, i need to get that car out of the shop by next thursday, and i only have a limited amount of time to work on it every day

I was working at the dealer when a lot of those recalls came in...and some of the techs didnt fold the latches back over to secure the nut. The result...saves them time but makes it a nightmare for the next person. I bet yours has the update and you may very well find a lazy tech did it.

good news and bad news...GOOD NEWS: my car had the recall done BAD NEWS: the bolt snapped, GOOD NEWS: tranny is out, clutch and flywheel will be installed tomorrow, hopefully i can bolt the tranny back up too

ok, i ran into a little problem, my fidanza didnt come with the dowels, do these have to be bought specially or can anything that fits work?, also, should i use loctite on the bolts?, any and all help will be appreciated, also, where do i find recall kits for the subframe?

ok, can anyone give me hints on getting my TOB out?, i need to get my car done in the next couple days, also, are the dowels absolutely necessary when putting in a new flywheel?

sure, you take the pin off (if it's still there) and just pull the TOB right off the shaft. If there's a sleeve where the TOB was riding, make sure you remove that also. Be sure to install the new sleeve with sleeve retainer so it doesn't spin on you. Dowels are 100% necessary. Without them you can't propery seat the pressure plate. I got them next day from Ford for cheap money.

ok, ill see if i can get the dowels tomorrow, what about dowels that can be bought from the hardware store?, sorry to sound like a redneck, but i need to get my car done asap, i have a deadline, is there a way to get the old ones out of the old flywheel?

Put the dowel in a vise and twist the flywheel off. :thumb:

If you don't have one, I'm sure there's a muffler shop or something that doesn't mind you using it or doing it for you. It takes a couple seconds for each one.
