Have you tried prying the knuckle open slightly where the pinchbolt for the ball joint goes? That worked for me.

You are replacing the whole lower control arm correct? Which part of the control arm doesn't want to go on? I just replaced both ball joints with a subframe out... obviously much easier but still, try sliding the control arm onto the tension strut and then sliding the end of the control arm into the subframe. Not sure if you are having a problem getting that part on, or are you having a problem getting the ball joint to sit in the knuckle? If it's the knuckle take a pry bar and stick it between the bottom of th subframe and the top of the tension strut and push down. It should move the control arm down enough to swing the knuckle in place above it. Once the ball joint is in line with the knuckle slowly let pressure off the pry bar and give the bottom of the ball joint a slight tap with a hammer.

We have been trying to do exactly what you said but the Strut is extended and about 5" lower then the ball joint (when pried down), we put spring compressors on the spring to get the strut up to about the same level but every time we try to sqeeze the strut up more the whole knuckle and strut come out towards the outside of the car - it needs to go like 5" inwords towards the ball joint. any tips?

I will probably get a slap from the more safety conscience on the board, but I braced the jack to prevent it from rolling back. This is if you have the spring compressors on which you said you did. It took a couple of tries, but persistence pays.

Okay We tried thisa few times so I guess we will try to brace the jack better, and try it a few more times but does anyone else have any input?
