Hey guys, i've had some people ask me about the rims I want to get. The rims are 19x8 and can come in a 35mm or 45mm offset. They weigh 24 lbs. each. I was thinking about going 45mm all around with a 235/35/19 tire. I am running stock height for now, till I get rims on and susp. mods will come after I assess with rims on. I will probably need spacers in the back, and I dont know if i want to drop the money for wheels that I need spacers for. Is it worth it? Any side-effects to the spacers? Do I need spacers for the front too? Let me know what you think of the rims, and would you do it. Thanks. Sorry for the long post.

Here is the rim:

I think those will definetly look good on your car. (unless your SHO is white-I never really liked chrome on white cars) thumbs_u A little heavy but shrug Oh well! As for the spacers, I don't know thier effects.

EDIT> I see your SHO is red, they will look awesome. Be sure to post pics if you get them.

They look good, finally someone on the forum pushes the rim diameter limit, post pics when there on.

I didnt think you would need spacers for the front but SHO2NV said he needed them for 18x7.5 rims with a 45mm offset(very small at 7/32ths), you'll defitnaly need them for the rear but nothing crazy you just have to meaure properly once you recieve the rims to know what you need.

Usually the negatives of any spacers is extra strain/stress on the wheel bearings, and suspnsion components. This is usually with large spacers like 1"-2", even if you need them in the front they wouldnt be that bad at all compared to what you will need in the rear.

You might be able to squeeze them in upfront because you'll also be using a 8" rim so you'll have .25" clearence more on each side compared to his 18x7.5 with 7/32ths spacers, but plan on using them for the rear no matter what. If you really want these wheels, this would be the only way to go because the other option you have of buying them in 35mm would just be worse compared to the 45mm.

It's a nice looking wheel, who makes it? 45 offset will definately need spacers rear and maybe need them front also. They are heavy, actually for a 19" maybe they're not.

In my opinion, a wheel vastly out of proportion to the rotor size looks funny. If you're running stock brakes those wheels will make those rotors look pretty anemic, even the 96 upgrade will get dwarfed by them. On the same track, with such open wheels the calipers need to be painted, nothing worse than cool wheels and nasty calipers.

Your right, Brakes will be done soon. Working with a limited budget here. Only one big thing at a time. Can't fit the baer 13's under my slicers. boink Why is the 12.5 inch system so much more? And can you get them with 2 piston calipers? I dont want to not use my slicers ever again. Keep up the info and responses. What size spacers will i need in the back? 7/32"? If everyone says that 40-42mm wheels are ideal, what size spacer will make the difference?

Looks wise ,it would look great. thumbs_u

I just dont think its a great idea to have such a big rim especially with a very low profile tire.

The roads in Cali suck, those rims would be doomed very quickly.

I doubt there worse than new england roads, just saw on the news 83% of RI's roads are bad and in need of repair, also 50% of the bridges need work.

If you know how to drive without going straight into *** holes you should be all set, my bud in his GS400 has had different 20's with 35series tires for over 4yrs without ever denting or hitting a curb etc., even the 18's on my SHO never had a problem for 2yrs till a "BUMP" sign I missed going 60MPH on the highway. Now if your going to continue to drive like you did with thick walled tires like on the slicers be prepared for some out of round rims.

The weird thing with my rims is that I need the spacers in the front to clear the calipers, but the back has no problems. shrug I'm going to put a set on the back too though, to keep everything evened out.

Edit: BTW, those are some killer rims, but do you really want to plunk down that kind of dough? If you're not in a hurry, check eBay....you'll find some great deals on there.

Here's some eBay finds:
Nice 18" wheels

18" wheels & tires

BLING BLING!! thumbs_u

Still looking for some answers on this one. New rims will be 45mm. And in regards to money, I am very sentimental towards this car. It is MY first car, I made all the payments and cover all the costs. My symbol of maturity. I will never sell it, and hope to make it a supersho like the custom ones described by shoshop. I don't want to do something that I will have to undo. Like go with 17's and not like the size and have to sell them and then get 18's and then want to go bigger to 19's. If i'm gonna do it, it has to be done right.

The best thing you can do, is get the wheels and tires, mount them on the car(without lugs) and see where it's gonna rub. From that you should be able to figure out how much you'll have to move them out with spacers. That's what I did.

how bout some more opinions? Like from the specialists. I know that weight reduces horsepower, but i'll compensate with mods later.

I don't have any assistance to offer but I just want to see some 19's on a SHO. Also, I think the 12.5" brakes are more expensive than the 13" because they are lighter and probably better all together.

I think they look very nice. Yes, the larger rim will add to rotational mass, but if you really don't care about it, then go for them!

I wish I could afford 17's frown

First off, beautiful rims! I would be very interested to see how 19s look on the SHO. The only experience I've had with wheel spacers was a bad one. Here's the sad tale: My buddy had some Jaguar 10 point 17s that he said would look fantastic on the SHO. He said all I needed was wheel spacers. So I got the wheel spacers and the rims, put it all together, and it looked great. BUT every time I drove it, it sounded like the wheels weren't tight enough. Very noisy. He suggested that I get the wheels balanced. Did that. Twice at two different places. I broke two lug studs off before I yanked those rims off. oh_my shrug

The problem was that the rims were not hub-centric and were resting solely on the studs. Be sure you don't have the same problem that I did. I took that car on the freeway a few times while I had those rims on and everyone says it's a miracle I'm still here. Good luck.

SHO n'prove if they were not hub-centric like most aftermarket rims are, did you ever buy the hub-centric rings from a local wheel shop? They should've been able to get them for you, I paid like $10 for all 4 I had on my SHO.
