Im new here im 19 and have a 93 atx. in april i had a hole in one of my mufflers and my "ash pipe" (is what meineke called it not sure if thats what it is) was falling off and apparently rotted completely. so they replaced both mufflers and from the y pipe almost up to the rear split. seemed great they welded it nice sounded better than when i purchased the car but they replaced the flex hose with straight pipe. after about 3 weeks the bolts vibrated loose i brought it back they told me they "did me a favor and saved me money" they tightened it again with more washers and spring bolts a month later it loosened again. I will bring it back to be fixed again. its is covered under warranty should they have to put in a new flex pipe for free? does it HAVE to have one? and could the lack of flex have hurt my y pipe or manifolds? im just a kid i dont know too much but love the car any help would be greatly appreciated :thumb:

That's ridiculous. The car needs a flexpipe! Every time the engine moves (accel/decel/etc.) the whole exhaust is being ****** around. You'll be lucky if the welded connections last even if you do get the hardware to hold.

Take it back to them and tell them to put a flexpipe on. Pay for the part if you have to, but not the labor, as they should've never performed such a procedure (removing it) without telling you. Actually they shouldn't have done it at all.

Good luck.

It depends on the exhaust shop. Some won't use anything but OEM-type pipes, some will use universal.

You can guess which ones are cheaper :bonk:
