Ok...When I Install the new seal should I coat the very outer part of the seal with a little motor oil or grease? Or do I just slide the thing in as it is? I noticed the inner part of the seal was pre-greased. I really dont wanna mess this one up.

Thanks Adam S.

Clean the crankshaft and receiver area well, but don't put oil or grease around the outside of the seal. That part doesn't move. Only the pre-greased inner portion has to deal with the rotation of the crankshaft. make sure that you press it in flush with the receiver. I use the handle end of a socket wrench to get a good push on the seal.

another way to install it is to use a 10" piece of 2" Schedule 80 PVC. place it against the seal, use a wooden block on the other end and gently tap at it with a deadblow hammer. make sure the pipe stays on the seal completely..so that you dont wedge the seal crooked. youll know when the seal is completely seated by the change in the thump you hear. again, i EMPHASIZE, only tap on the seal, do not hammer on it.
