My alternator stopped working today, its not charging at all, the only thing I can think of is that the voltage regulator burned out because I didn't wire the alternator correctly. Recall, I swapped SHO engine in my Prelude
The alternator was always charging unusually high at 14.9-15 V for the passed 3000 miles but I thought nothing of it
on the alternator it says I S A, but I only see two prong's on the alternator
I -did not wire, (goes to gauge cluster bulb and resistor)
S-no prong?
A-wired to batt +, 10 amp fuse
What I'm asking is how does the system regulate the voltage?
Does the alternator need a ground?
Why is the indicator bulb or resistor important?
so confused, why has it stopped charging?
here is a link, perhaps someone can make sense of it
