Pretty complicated if not impossible if not Factory installed. Simple explanation is As Built Data as in programming from the factory needs to be completed there. Hopefully JMR will chime in soon he is more knowledgeable but the 2013 display head is more or less just that. Assuming you could get the programming you would need the NAV module in the control head, and NAV accessories, like GPS Antenna and possible SD card slot. I believe it would be MUCH more than the $800 that it costs from the factory. Personally Garmin makes some pretty good current models with 5 and 6 inch screens, for reasonable prices. I got one for my G/F as a Christmas for $140 at Costco with FREE LIFETIME MAPS/TRAFFIC updates simple as docking to computer for about 30 minutes once a quarter.

All that needs to be done to get factory NAV is a minor programming change but it is purposely locked out. You will not get factory NAV in your vehicle.

There are aftermarket kits that hardware gets installed between the APIM and display. Do some google searches.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into that, if I don't find something I like, I talked to the dealership and they said for about 2 grand I can have it installed.

That would be a first as Ford not the dealer controls what can and can't be upgraded in an approved method. Ford has made it very clear they do not support upgrading of a non-Nav vehicle to a OEM Nav vehicle. The only approved way would be to give you a different vehicle with Nav.

I have read of instances where a dealer has sold someone a vehicle stating it has NAV when it doesn't and either the owner has received a kickback or gotten a replacement vehicle that does have it (this is in new vehicle cases).

its possible to add Nav to a non Nav vehicle. Im a Ford Technician and figured out a way to add Nav. Another Tech and I added Navigation to his 2012 Explorer, only thing we couldnt get to work was the Navigation display on the right side of the instrument cluster. He had an extra A4 Navigation card laying around he put it in after we did some module configurations and it worked

Well I know how to get it on the instrument cluster. The only way that I am aware to enable it in the APIM is to alter the VIN of the vehicle. PM me.

Good news for those of you with a 2013-2015 Taurus with non NAV MFT. If you are in Wisconsin I can possibly meet up and add oem Navigation or for those outside the area I can program a used APIM for your vehicle and send it to you as a direct replacement. I will supply an A5 nav sd card as long as I have some left.

Personally add it to your vehicle - $450 + any travel expense.
Direct replacement APIM for your vehicle - $650 shipped.

I currently have 1 APIM for the 13/14 Taurus and 1 APIM for the 15 Taurus.

If I don't have an APIM for you I can get one, I will require a deposit.

You may think this is expensive but others are charging $1000 for this and people are buying.

If interested send me an [email protected]

Thanks

It takes more than just the card. Either I have to personally program your vehicle or I can send you a replacement apim for yours that has navigation enabled. The personal process takes 1-2 hours.

Then you can purchase the replacement APIM which would add navigation for you.

If you are serious about adding navigation send me an email.

The APIM is attached to the back of the 8" display. This video (not mine) shows you how to take apart the dash to get to it. The APIM is held onto the display with 4 phillips screws.
