Was wondering how you update (when updates become available) on these newer Nav systems with the internal hard drives? I don't believe they have dvd drives like my wife's Honda.

Has anyone done any recent upgrades to their mapping software, and where did you buy the update?

Thanks

You can update with a thumb drive. I have yet to see any updates since i've owned the car in the last year.

Oh ok, the same way you update the Sync. So I wonder where you purchase the updates, whenever there are any?

I thought you were talking about the radio software. Not sure about map updates as I would not buy any. This radio has my area mapped very well, and I always have my Android phone with Google maps if I get stuck.

I live in Southern California and the freeway systems and roads are changed and added to constantly. Plus the points of interest change so having it updated, at leasst once every couple years is what I'm looking for

www.navteq.com. They have the updates. Check your version before you order as the updates only come out every 2 years or so. It loads via dvd.
Your Ford dealer can order you the same update also

The version on my radio is 3.0x, but the new one is 3.1x. Update is $200. That's a lot of coin for a few roads if you ask me, and to be honest nobody really knows what it updates. usually a .1 update on anything is very minor. It's also kind of strange since the update was released July 2010 and my car was built after that. Oh well.

Yeah I agree. That's a lot of money for an update with a few roads on it. I'll probably update once every 3 years or so.

+1.....I've updated my navi's b4 and found that an immediate subsequent update is a total waste of $$$$.

I've also sent updates to Zenrin who looked after Nissan/Infiniti's mapping and these changes take years to appear on subsequent versions.

A version within one of 2 of the most recent is probably just fine.
