NAV maps update

Got a thing in the mail to update the maps in the navigation system fot $199 No way im paying that crazy price. You can get DVD and do it yourself or go to Ford dealership.

I've never heard of dealerships giving free nav updates. That cost is the standard, industry-wide...

I don't understand why people assume that map updates are going to be free. I know that Garmin, TomTom, Magellan and other do offer lifetime map updates on some of their devices but to my knowledge no automobile manufacturer does. You are not obliged to update the maps, if the version the car came with works for you, and it probably does, then don't spend the cash to update. Simple!
