Yes it would. Mine are wrapped, but I live in Arizona. I don't have the moisture problems that @yaycandy is correct about. If you daily it and you live in a wetter climate I would not advise.
Hmmm . . . interesting. I'm no longer working, so the car only sees short trips to the market a couple times a week and the occasional 200+ mile road-trip. I live in Los Angeles County, but near the ocean so there's often a moisture-filled marine layer about. All surfaces gather early-evening and early-morning condensation almost year-round.
Though, I'm very interested in preserving the PTU as much as possible, so I would feel a lot better with a downpipe-wrap; however, I'll likely pass on the header-wrap since it's hideously expensive.
