Hey guys, I noticed that this started happening last summer and didn't do anything about it. I didn't know what to do but the weather started to cool down before I knew it and it stopped happening. Now that it's getting really hot again outside the steering wheel has been leaking this brown, sticky stuff that's inside of the wheel. I guess this brown stuff is the cushioning inside the wrapping of the steering wheel. It's dripping out from the stitches on only the top portion of the steering wheel. The stuff is just nasty to get your hands on, so I have to wipe my steering wheel down everytime I get in the car. I've tried turning the steering wheel upside-down and the stuff still manages to leak out.
I don't know what to do to stop this, but my only solution I could come up with was to run some super glue in the stitching and take some fine sand paper and sand down the glue after it dries so I don't feel it. I'm just worried I might sand off the gray on the steering wheel trying to do that. Any suggestions, guys? I was wanting to eventually replace my steering wheel with another gray one off the later 2nd Gen. SHO's (my '92 has the older style steering wheel, I think they changed it in '93 or '94), but I'm not really ready to do that just yet unless I have no other choice. Does the regular '95 or so Taurus use the same steering wheel as the '95 SHO?
Thanks,
Andrew
