My SHO sucks.... I'm sick of this........

I lost my speedo, now the cruise doesn't worl. Also, since the speedo issue the car upshifts/downshifts hard from 1-2 and 2-1. The passing gear does not kick down(overdrive button still works and will manually kick it down when disengaged) and my brother(mechanic) said it IS NOT the upper cable but that is all the time he had to look ait. What the **** is the problem guy's, VSS, tranny? what????? Mike

Sounds like your speedometer drive and/or driven gear in the tranny could be shot. They turn both the speedo cable and the VSS. They can be accessed externally (albeit difficultly), but if the gears are stripped, chances are there are little pieces of metal floating around in your tranny, and each foot you drive does more damage. If it was just the lower speedo cable, the VSS should still send speed data to the EEC, and your shifts, cruise, etc. would still act normally.
