I just got done installing a reman fenco rack for a slo. When I was cycling the wheel to purge the system the rack cracked. The case got a 5" long crack on the passenger side. I think this happened when I hit one of the stops. I hope this isn't from installing the slo rack without spacers. I didn't slam the stop, I was gentle.
One of my spacers was junk that's why I didn't transfer them over. I had the lines hooked up correctly and that valve installed in the high pressure line.

Ohh and I did my clutch also, and my new luk tob is making a high pitched noise until you push the clutch in or lift on the pedal. It was coming and going though sometimes.
I've just about had it, next i'll find out I didn't put the trans back together right, then i'd lose it. It seemed to shift good though. I was all excited for the new clutch and welded diff, now this.

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated, hopefully it was the rebuilders fault, but I think it's another issue.

Maybe my throwout bearing was making that high pitched noise, because it is new. I guess it was not spinning with the pp fingers rather slipping because it is new and stiff. I spun it by hand and and it was tight.
Still lost with the rack failure?

I have a luk clutch for over a year now and mine did it from day 1 till today and shifts fine.
You here a chatter correct? Till you press in the clutch pedal?

No chatter, it was a high pitched noise that came and went by itself and changed in frequency and tone.
I could make it disappear by pressing down or up on the clutch. I only ran the car for 5 mins then the rack blew, so i'll find out later today I guess after I put another rack in. I should've left well enough alone, but I wanted to replace the rack and lines.

I just got another rack and it didn't have the right size teflon washers. Now i'm officially screwed.

edit
The washers were too small, but I stretched the over the fitting, and it worked with no leaks. I didn't have to stretch them too much. Steering ratio feels quicker, but I could be wrong?
This rack had some fluid in it from the manufacturer, which led me to believe it was tested prior to shipping, the one that broke didn't. The one that brake also had much looser tie rod ends.

For future reference, put the washers in some hot water to make them softer.

I just wanna say its way easier than it looks to pull the rack out the driver side wheel well, without touching the subframe.

Also make sure the check valve is fully seated. I tightened the line and damaged it so it wouldnt open and this happened. Then the second one pulsated on long sweeping turns but now im good.
