when they replaced my resonator (I guess because they cut it in 2 places), they replaced with a slightly larger pipe (in length). I can tell because where the y pipe joins to the resonator, it is sticking down a bit farther, and the joint (donut gasket) has no gap at the top, and a 3/8 or so gap at the bottom.) It is not leaking though. Is this a future problem? I guess it is especially if I am going to replace my y pipe.I would take it right back to them and not even bother typing this, but I really don't feel like sitting down there another hour or so

So, basically they welded the pipe in at an angle relative to where it was before (when it was right), so that the gasket isn't sitting flush.

Take it back and tell them to do it right. It'll just accelerate the wear on the donut and it'll likey be leaking very soon. I had the same issue (muffler shops SUCK! well, at least all 5 of them I've tried).
