i have a 94 red atx and about 2 months ago i went to start it after 3 days without driving it, and it struggles to start but eventually catches. So i drive down the street an decide to turn around because the car was acting wayyy to weird to drive. And when i put it in reverse, it died on me, i then had to have my dad push me home (bumper to bumper). So far ive had a mechanic replace the fuel pump, i replaced the spark plug wires, the fuel pump relay, fuel filter, and the DIS. After all these repairs the problem did not go away. I have to get this car running in order to sell it to my friend and i cant wait any longer to find out whats really wrong with it. i had my friend look at it an the only thing he can think of is the coil pack. Someone please tell me if they have had this problem happen to them. Thanks.

Also, check those oxygen sensors. Using a meter on them would be good to do in testing them also.

When my O2 sensors went bad, my car would generally cut out everytime I hit a red light or stop sign. It would start right back up, but you knew it would die out again. When I changed those sensors, the problem went away completely.

Check the voltage on the IAB and MAF and idle sensor as well. Yeah, do a code check.

Check ground connections too.

Check your ground connections from the rear of the intake and also check to make sure the DIS has both bottom bolts on.

Took me a few days to discover that I had pulled a ground connection out of the passenger side strut tower (goes to diagnostic connector) during a 60k and I had a strange no start or errartic running condition afterwards.

This is why you shouldnt sell cars to friends. If a problem occurs, then it can becomes a PITA to resolve it between you two. Nick, if it drives and shifts then dont worry about it yet. Get it to run first then have a shop check out the trans. You can check the coil's resistance. Check the primary and the secondary resistance and if they are within spec then most likely the coil isnt the problem. With the key on engine off, check voltage at the TPS and do a full sweep test as well. Check it at 0% throttle all the way too 100% and check for drops in voltage (dead spots). But it does sound like a coil problem to me.
