i posted this in the performance upgrade section as well but i figured it can go here too since my current ones are rusting out and i'm just replacing them. i searched high and low on this and the results didn't really provide me with what i was looking for. i have a stock Y pipe with a dynomax catback. the passenger side muffler recently rusted through on the top so now i'm wondering what to go with next for mufflers. i would like something a bit louder and more agressive than dynomax, but i hate rasp and don't want something that will give me any. in my searches i read both good and bad comments on many different alternatives, and i wasn't always sure of the setup the guys were running, so my question is what is a good muffler choice for a gen 2 mtx with a stock Y and a dynomax catback that will be agressive but not raspy?

so far all i've heard about are magnaflows and flowmasters. anybody have comments on any others?

well, i have the stock exhaust, and im by no means an exhaust guru, but i know the reason that the dynomax rusts out is because its not stainless steel, and living in MA will definately have an impact on the rust situation.

best i can tell you is find one that looks good and try them out, look at the design they have, some are flow-through and some are chambered... the possiblities are endless

its hard to ask the forum what setup we think is best, because most likely opinions will differ, and one person's rasp is another's exhaust symphony

either way you shouldnt have too much a problem with rasp, if your cats are still intact... it sounds like you want a mean sounding exahust, but more than stock... id look into the flowthrough designed mufflers and go from there the worst that can happen is that you end up taking them off and replacing them because the sound is soo god awful, and then youre out less than $100
