Before I remove my blown trans, Is there anything I need to know specifically about the SHO's?

How many sensors on the trans?
How many Hoses or lines?

Anything I need to be concerned about?

Any tips or tricks that would make the Job easier?

Any help would be much greatly appreciated.

You need a way to support the engine from the top.

Tip: Its not going to be as easy as you think, which is why I'm too lazy to do mine.

Support engine with a hoist. Its just the speedo cable and a sensor next to it. The trans kinda has to 'slip' out.

The MTX is a pretty simple transmission. There are no sensors other than the VSS which is located at the top of the transmission. The cable for the speedometer drive and the VSS electrical connection are co-located. There are no hoses or coolant lines. The clutch is cable actuated, via a simple arrangement at the top of the transmission.

As mentioned, if you want to pull only the transmission and leave the engine in place you'll need to buy or make an engine brace to support the engine while the transmission is not in place. The brace is also pretty basic stuff and a number of people have made them from 2x4s and plywood. There are probably still a number of pics of examples around the forum if you search.

It's fairly straightforward. IIRC there are some write-ups around that are pretty thorough. I anybody local to you has SHOnut's clutch change video that's a very good reference and shows the whole process.

X2! The video also includes a step-by-step written procedure. It will save you a lot of time, and maybe save you from squashing yourself.

I just pull the engine and tranny both if I ever do it. It doesn't require dropping the subframe, or supporting anythng. Just taking out the axles is the worse. The rest, like the y-pipe on the mtx is easy. Don't forget the power steering pressure hose in the back.

Do this!

I'm just doing a trans swap, so I pasted all of the trans removal steps into notepad and printed it to have while I'm working.

It's pretty good...I didn't follow some steps right, like removing the y-pipe - I took of the nuts holding it to the exhaust manifold first, then the spring bolts at the rear....so it made it harder than it should have been.

I pulled the transmission out the driver's side wheel well when I rebuilt my tranny. The job was a pain, but I didn't have way to support the engine from the top.

I generated a procedure from my experience with the clutch and MTX service I did back in 2003. If you PM me a personal email address, I will be happy to send it to you.
