I just recieved from the junkyard my 11/91 tarus,
I paid for it and specifically asked the meat heads at the jy not to touch the car that I was
going to remove the drivetrain, should I say any
more?
now that I have sitting in my shop the drivetrain,
that was gently and caringly removed from the taurus with saws all and cutters, venting here.

I have been trying to remove the trans from the engine with not much luck, I have removed the
starter, 6 bellhousing bolts,trans mount,2 10mm
shaft bearing bolts,
I cant seem to get it pryed apart at the bottom,
it comes loose at the top and I can see the dowel
pins on the sides, but that lil sucker wont budge past that, have I missed something?
Im not gonna pry too much hate to break more than what the kind guys at the jy did for me,
I had a perfect rod shifter till the saws all
cut the 2 rods, arrrggg!!

yea it would cost $500 at least to replace all
the hoses, shifter, clutch cable, and so on,
and then how much time it would take to properly
fuse all the wires he cut? about 60 wires,
he was nice and unbolted the puter for me,
what I dont get they couldnt spend 2 minutes thinking, hmmm the car has been sitting a week paid for, its sitting under 2 cars stacked on top of it, did he want the drivetrain pulled out or not?
oh whatever! whats done is done, Im happy I have the parts I have, now if I can get the trans seperated!

back side facing the firewall, bolt comes in from motor through into the trans. it is a bitch to get off without dropping the y-pipe. It is located right by the sender unit. it is a 15mm, there are also the 2 in the bottom of the oil pan going into the bottom of the tranny. there is one just above the starter also going from motor-trans. other than that, the 6 trans-motor, she sill come apart. I have done this task 5 times in the last 6 months. Good luck, Craig

thanks a bunch Im glad I wasnt any younger,
I would of lost my temper and pryed till it
broke, I wasnt able to see them cause the whole
subframe with drivetrain is sitting on the floor,
after looking at my running SHO I noticed the 2 bolts I missed, now if I could just fix the pesky
power steering leak.

If you have the subframe out, it will almost never be easier to fix the PS leak.

Where's it coming from?

All that's in the system and likely to leak is the pump, rack, the high pressure line, then the return lines with the cooler and the reservoir.

The high pressure line has been known to develop pin-holes. It is also sealed at both ends with quick connect fittings and O-rings that are also known to fail.

Steve.
