Hello all. My SHO threw the 2nd gear synchro a few months ago,, and I've ben putting it off, but it's time to get her running again before spring. The car is a '93 with 200k miles on it. Everything else in the car is tip-top. I am fairly proficient when it comes to mechanical work, have rebuilt many motors. I have never done any transmission work other than a clutch or a complete swap out. I found a rebuild kit for a decent price on the net. I was wondering if anyone out there has rebuilt one of these before? I was hoping in advance to know weather or not I need any special tools. Also if anyone has done this and has any hints, or things to watch out for, please share them.

more rubber, more HP.....
Get the video from SHONutperformance.com.

If all you are doing are synchros, blocking rings, bearings, and seals then it's pretty straightforward using standard tools. If you can do a clutch, then you can certainly do this.

You need special tools if you are going to install a Quaife differential.

It's all described extremely well in the video.

Here is the kit I found, unfortunately no one sells the synchros with the kit

Most of these listings on the web are no longer in stock (outdated web updates), so I called and confirmed they are no longer available. There are a few sets of new blocking rings floating around, but they are getting rare and expensive.

I second the suggestion to contact Bizzy. She is in Michigan, and one of the transmission experts on the forum. She may even have a set of blocking rings if you talk nice to her.
