I had a 91 mtx that would not go into 3rd or 4th. Tonight I took the case apart to see if I could locate what the damage was.

I expect you will find something wrong with the 3/4 shift fork - broken or missing pin or fingers are most likely in my experience.

This is my first rodeo on a SHO MTX but im guessing there is not sposta be this big chuck missing from this fork ? i cant see the chunk in the case anywhere .

is this commen ? what does this part run $ on avg ? how much do I need to remove to change it out. and yes i will def be cleaning this thing out and finding the chunk.

followed Bizzys write up and got all the shafts and diff out. (man that shift pin did not want to come out at all ) looks like the fork is only thing damaged as far as I can tell . Cant find the chunk missing tho which is a little scary.

Evan,

We have a few boxes of misc used transmission parts, so we can get you the parts.

Honestly, transmission fluid is a pretty good cleaner on its own. Try using some new clean fluid if you need to clean any of the parts. They should not be that dirty, are they?
