has there been any update on this? i checked the nesho website and it is useless. have a 97 thats great but the trans finally failed at 212k miles, first and reverse are all that work now. i welded the cams years ago around 107k miles, all that needed replaced since were some coil packs!

Stormy, I see you been lurkin' a while. ;-)
So you got 200k+ out of your tranny before it pooped. Not bad. I'd be interested to know what your maintenance schedule was, what ATF, aftermarket cooler, etc. Mine went out a couple years ago, but I was lucky that a local shop was familiar with them.

As for Kirk's ATX conversion, were you able to contact him? I'm curious as to whether these are being done anymore also. I'm a firm believer in "To each their own", and I'm crazy about my 98, but with a 16 year old car and the fact that you are "regionally challenged", I.E. you'd have to transport it at least to the St. Louis area, why not save your beans and put them toward a Gen4, maybe even a Focus ST (Hennessey does aftermarket for both!)

Again, this is just me, and I consider myself ******** for my SHO.

Mine is at 200K and the transmission has never even burped. Every 20k it gets a full flush and new filter. Half a decade ago or so one of the pipe runs to the cooler in the rad rusted through so I switched to an aftermarket external cooler. Otherwise, no special treatment. But I seldom stop light race or drop the hammer seriously hard from a stop (though I do use WOT from a roll with some frequency). That might be just as important to long life for the transmission as regular fluid and filter attention.
