During the front 60k today when removing the water pump we found half of a cooked mouse and a bunch of yellow insulation. Obviously the mouse does not belong there but what about the insulation? I can't imagine anyone using fiberglass insulation in an engine but just want to be sure I'm not removing anything that needs to be there.

The mouse and wire running wheel run the SHO secondaries. When you get to 3800 rpm, the mouse starts running to add more power. Is the running wheel still there? They usually break-up and fall to the road. This is a known, though infrequent problem. A bearing seizes and the wheel stops. The mouse is thrown into a belt and cut in half. No big deal, just go to the pet store and buy another wheel and an even bigger mouse for more power.

Seriously though, the mouse probably brought the insulation from your house to make a comfortable nest. Just clean it up.

LOL

I've got my SHO's mouse on a firm regiment of sterioids, he tells me he's shooting for (pun intended) the low 10s.

:laugh_ti: :laugh_ti: I've heard of some people mod their mouse wheels and put a budweiser bottle in front of the mouse..

I bought an engine off of eBay that had obviously been sitting outside for a while. I didn't have any disembowled rodents, but I did have the remnents of a nest.

I appreciated the thread where the guy had his SHO stored for the winter. When he was going to break it out for the sprint he found that a critter used it as acorn storage. There were hundreds of acorns in his engine. It was hilarious! :laugh_ti:

That wasn't a SHO. That was his winter beater that he had sitting during summer. Never the less, it was funny.

Ya know when I went to get this car outta the weeds the first thing I looked for was a squirrel nest in the intake and I dont think I would have ever even thought about it if I hadn't seen that pic
