I was looking to buy spark plugs today. Looking mainly for Motorcrafts of course.
So I went to Autozone and they didnt stock them, so I went to the dealer. The part number that came up for 3.0 was 6111. I matched them to the plugs in my car, and they werent the same. The 6111's were full threaded with a "squish" washer, where as the ones that came out of my car are half threaded, and no washer. These are the ones that came out of my car.

The guy wouldnt sell me the 6111's because he said they wouldnt fit considering the seat in the pic above. All day Ive been trying to match up these plugs, and Ive had some bad luck. Im also leary on what Im gonna buy because I want my wires to seat nicely onto my valve covers. I bought brand new Taylors wires today and with the plugs I have they seat perfectly. Has anyone had the same problem? The man gave me really no help as far as matching the plugs in the pic above. Is there any other plugs that you guys recomend that are not enormous? Any help would be appreciated.

Jason,
That is not the right plug that is was in your car. The correct ones have long threads to reach all the way through the threaded hole in the head and they have a squish washer to help seal on the aluminum of the heads.

The auto lite brand from autozone is an exact match to the motorcraft one (they have platinum on the electrode AND the ground) and can be had for 3.99 each.

The bad news is that the bottom half of the threads in your cars' heads are going to be full of carbon now, since they weren't occupied by a full length spark plug. You will need to clean them out with a spark plug thread chaser. You can probably get one at autozone. The length of the threads on the chaser should be the same length as the threads on the correct spark plug. Be careful.
