Hi,
I'm new to these forums.
I recently purchased a 1991 SHO mtx with 200k miles a fiberglass hood, and a rod shifter. I was shifting a little harder than usual and the motor mount snapped, I went to autozone and got a new motor mount but it doesn't look anything like the shonut reinforced one I have seen online. It looks more like an egg, like an elliptical shape where the bottom half is white metal with a threaded shaft coming through it, and the top is rubber with a tab where a large bolt would go. The part # I got from ford was: F1DZ6038C.
From what I've heard the shonut reinforced motor mount is the bracket and the motor mount attaches to that.
I'm just trying to figure out if I need a new motor mount or a bracket.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

You need to get one from SHOnut or a stock FOrd one. I do not think there is an aftermarket available. Autozone, NAPA, and Schucks all have the wrong part listed in thier database as far as I know.

that's what it seems like to me.
I might just get the reinforced one.
So it's not the egg-shaped motor mount?

No, it sounds like you got one for a Taurus SLO which is the ATX version of motor mounts.

I think a company named Pioneer makes an aftermarket mount available through O' Reilleys, but not sure.

I'm going to get a reinforced one from shonut then, it's cheaper and better.
Is there anything else that could have broken during an extremely hard shift, that would make the engine move a lot in the front? maybe the frame where the motor mount is or possibly a bracket?

I would but I have a friend doing the work.
I might just have to go to their garage and take a look.

What exactly snapped on the original mount you broke?

I can reinforce a broken mount and make it better then new one.
Of course I would recommend getting a knew one thats reinforced.

just bought a shonut reinforced motor mount on ebay for $80!
I can't wait to get it in, so I can finally stop driving my other car.
Thanks for the help!
