I just installed my new suspension parts and was wondering if anyone could hlpe me with tightning/tourque specs for the MOOG rear swaybar links. I tightned them until they started to deforme the bushings a little but that is no where close to being tight (to any torque spec).

Thanks in advance.

well... the Ford manual says 5-7 lb-ft. That won't even begin to thread the locking nuts. So... I guess just keep it where you're at and you should be good! :thumb:

Are they the type that is a long bolt, with the one nut on one end? If so, those are pieces of crap. They will overtighten one side, and the other side will be loose. Get a new set of Ford endlinks, or RCM has nice ones, that have seperate threads and bolts on each end - which is the proper (and OEM) way of installing them.

I could never get rid of clunking with those crappy kinds, a nice quality set and they have been great for about 20k.

Yep they are the long bolt ones just I got from rockauto.com (like RCM sells). Guess that's 30 bucks down the drain. I'll have to live with them for now and pick up a pair of the othe ones RCM offers when I get the adjustable control arms down the road.

Well I was wondering too, cause I never snugged mine down. My center peice tho has to threaded ends, not one bolt in the center and has tabs to hold it with a wrench top and bottom. ? Box said Moog, and got em from Oriely auto. ? I have the same type on my truck, and the torque seemd way wrong there too. I kinda did the same thing on my truck, just tight enough to squish em a bit, still there no noise or anything out of them.

Autozone part number SL304.

Quite possibly the beefiest rear end links I've seen on a Taurus. Ever.

The link is a solid piece of steel with threaded ends at either end. No sleeve to crush one side, and not the other. A pair of these will be finding themselves on my SHO in the next few weeks. :thumb:

Yea racer... I think those are the same ones I got, Can't find the part number, but they are solid one peice and look great. One thing I was wondering about those is the smaller lip on the bushing itself. When the top and bottom bushings touch, the 'fat' part of the bushing isnt touching the sway bar yet. On my truck, I have the same kind of bushings, and just smashed them by tightening the nut down farther, past the tq spec. But my mechanic friend was saying that if it was him, he would probally shave off one of the lips so the fat part of the bushing would sit flat in the groove of the sway bar. Made sence to me, but just wondering if anyone else has trimmed these? My sway bar is still hanging in the garage, as I'm waiting on my 19mm bushings that I ''get'' to drill out to 23mm. But I'll get a pic, and post it up.
