hey everyone, im finally getting around to doing the front suspension on the 93 atx. so i cut 1.5 coils out of cc858, i only did one side today so i could check how much drop i got...1/2 inch drop ? i dont get it. so anyways i was going to yank the strut back out tommorrow and cut 2 full coils. Has anyone done this or seen any issues with this? i dont want to negatively effect handling but its definitely wayyyy too high right now considering the back w/ 1 coil cut is in the dirt and lookin great.

Maybe you should try the other side first. Or disconnect the sway bar. Plus they will settle in a bit after driving for a few days.

they wont settle. Ive been on mine for over 20k now, no settle.

And nobody said they sat low.

If you wanted low, you would have been much better off with LOWERING coils.

well i have the moogs in the back, i like the way they ride and handle, im more curious if it will hurt anything to go 2 full coils in the front. id read somewhere on here someone had done it but cant remember who. plus i have read people getting different amounts of drop so i really didnt understand why I only got 1/2 an inch?

I'm a voter against cutting coils. I've had nothing but problems with mine on my 90. The front ones came off the perch and rested against the strut tower. The rears bang the tower when I go over bumps.

I put a front set of SHO Shop springs on the front and been looking for a lone set of rears so I can pitch the cargos.

springs WILL settle after intial installation. after spending 4 days on stands, my fender gap was 2", then settled back down to 1".(wheels off ground). also, the amount of lowering is also dependant upon the factory springs. i had FLA codes in the front, with a wheel gap of at least 3". after installing the cut Moogs, i have a 1" fender gap.

JTSHO, the install is not complete. finish the other side and put about 50 hard miles on em to get em to settle in.

Murph, thats odd, i have had zero problems with mine. 30K/2 years on mine.

intrax sit the lowest for unmodified springs...

this is irrelevant to the topic. there are many threads containing questions about each spring/strut, and each has been addressed accordingly.

Why don't you do both sides and see how it looks?

Mainly b/c i dont want to do the job twice. Each side is independent and im looking at the fender well not the bumper.

also, the amount of lowering is also dependant upon the factory springs.

DHMag, i agree with that considering everyone will have a slight variation. i guess i was just curious if anyone had gone more than 1.5 coils. i guess if noone has i'll be the one who does tommorrow morning. unless someone can come up with a reasonable answer why i shouldnt? Also some people say you have to settle the springs and my back ones havent settled yet in 2,000 miles...hmmm guess once again slight variations.

the conclusion for me cutting 1.5 coils on the front was to maintain spring geometry. one coil was enough, but i wanted to retain stock spring look, pigtails on opposite sides. 1.5 is a safe bet, 2 is at your own risk.

when i did mine, the first side didnt look lowered. it wasnt apparent until i finished the other side.

i dont know how to host them or i would put some up...and every car reacts different but i didnt get much drop from 1.5 but 2 is good for me. even my g/f in the passenger seat tonight said the car feels really tight. coming from her that must mean something :nut:

I still like the Moogs, but I also experience the springs, especially the rears, unseating...mostly when I change the tires and have to raise the car. Almost went out on the track with the left rear unseated...Yikes!

And once again...Moogs are $100!!!!!

BTW, JT...what struts are you using?
