Hello all,

Thought I'd let you know that I was able to fit an aftermarket wheel to my '90 using a Mustang hub adapter. The pics aren't the greatest but you get the general idea. I really like it. It's a Momo Competition wheel, 13.8" diameter. Very thick grip. The steering effort is higher with this wheel, but it should be nice on the track.

It does look a little goofy up against the big honking steering column of an airbag car, but I suppose I'll get used to it.

I didn't even notice that until you said something about it. :) Looks nice in any case. :thumb:

What really matters anyway is not how it looks but how it performs. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I want to do that to mine, and I'm sure others do as well. What hub did you use and was there any modification involved?

I used a hub adapter for the Mustang, Momo part # 4525. Just remove the wheel, remove the clockspring, and it bolts on. I did have to make the flat plastic piece that you see behind the wheel, in order to cover up the exposed area where the clockspring usually sits.

can you not leave the clock spring, so you can use the horn?

No. It won't fit with the clock spring on there. The hub adapter does have similar circular metal contacts to what the clockspring has, which are there for the horn. Unfortunately, they do not come into contact with the contacts in the steering column. So, no horn.

The steering wheel already has a horn button on it. The contacts from the button don't match up with the ones on the column though, thats why the horn doesn't work.

what year mustang? i want to look at some other companies.

I believe it was listed for the 84 -89 Mustang as well as the Taurus up to '87 and various other older Fords. I'd be interested to hear if you find something else, I coudn't find anyone that had one for an airbag-equipped Ford.
