I went to the local track today. I was curious as to what the MKS would do when stock (accepting the replacement of the rear sway bar with a police unit).
Shannonville runs once a month with a mix and match night. For 40 (Canuck) bucks you can run the drag strip or the closed course. I tried both with the MKS. Not exactly a track car though, but it was fun to throw around a few corners. I didn't notice any understeer at all with the police sway bar installed.
Never really been much of a drag racer. I think my reaction time kind of sucks LOL. My best run was a 14.205 @ 98.17 mph.
I weighed the Lincoln previous to bringing it to the track and it was 4400 pounds. So with me and load of 94 gas, it was about 4650 lbs.
Don't think this was too bad considering it's a 10 year old car with 63000 miles.IMG 20200828 211347

Nice! My MKS was 4590lbs IIRC with the lighter wheels and me in it (175). I never ran stock, but with an LMS 93 tune, I’ve run a best of 13.1 @103mph.

You should consider a tune from AJPTurbo, GearHead or Ortiz Performance for the highest octane you have readily available and you’ll be hitting bottom 13’s to upper 12’s with ease. Keep it at that and I wouldn’t once worry about reliability if you do your part on regular maintenance. Trust me, you’ll be kicking yourself for not doing it sooner!!!

IMG 20200927 175907 Okay I went to Sharonville again on Friday for mix and match.
Since about the MKS I wasn't happy about the way the transmission felt when I was shifting. I had done the trans flush (3X) before I went to the track and it had been an improvement. But I still wasn't happy. So I decided to flush it again and this time put in Castrol Transmax. The transmission shifts and feels much better now. Some oddities that were occurring also disappeared with the Castrol transmission fluid. Things like the reverse camera not shutting off immediately. Little reading turned up that this is partially pressure regulated at the sensing unit. So there is a possibility that the transmission may be a little weak.
Anyhow conditions at the drag strip or almost the same as the last time. The only major change was half a tank instead of a full tank of gas and 91 instead of 93 octane fuel.
The end result was much more consistent runs and gaining a tenth of a second. Trap speeds remain more or less the same. 1/8 mile time and speed were slightly better as well. Still looks like it's laying down a bit at the top end though. Anyhow I'm happy with the results of changing the fluid. Traction control on or off made no difference at this power level. Here's my best slip first run on the left lane which is quicker.

Moving! Now, time to tune it!!!
Yep that's on the list. I will be doing the suspension and brakes before I start making it faster. Likely I'll have to replace the oxygen sensors. The MKS thew a check engine light on the last drag run. Sensor one Bank one. Likely I'll see another one.
First the white line rear sway bar, PI brake package. AMR suspension if they ever reply back to me.
I'm debating whether or not I should do the downpipes and exhaust before the tune.

Down pipes. From the vids I've heard...most exhaust systems sound kinda scrappy, and they provide minimal to no performance benefit.

However, I just did catless DPs, to stock exhaust, and it sounds awesome at WOT.
