I'm gonna go through the wiring, after talking to Matt A It came to mind the wiring did get tugged and moved around a bit trying to get the rear valve cover back on, so I suppose it's a good start.

I'm no ATX expert, but logic is telling me that there's nothing wrong with the engine. Rather it's something with the tranny, because it never stumbles in "2", only in Drive.

Maybe start with an ATX fluid flush. I know there's mixed debate on ATX fluid/service intervals. My uncle says, "once an AT has reached 100,000 miles, flushing all the fluid out is a shock for it and does more harm than good." I'm not too sure about this theory, but it's just what I heard.

I know there's some ATX experts out here that may be able to shed some light.

when I got the car it had some shifting issues that turned out to be the solenoid pack, but it did get fully flushed out, new filter, etc in april-may along with the new solenoids. only thing I can think of is that is around stall speed on the torque converter, but I'm gonna keep driving, see if any codes pop, play with the wiring one day some more.

as silly as it sounds, for what ever reason the screw that holds the throttle cable to the bracket by the throttle body is loose, never recall it being loose before the valve adjustment. Is it possible that the cable is moving slightly at a certain point, and allowing the throttle to close slightly? I've noticed more and more it seems to be throttle position more than rpm that causes this. Am thinking of getting a bolt and nut that will secure it tighter to see.

Ok, so here is something I noticed. The weird dead spot slowly went away. Was fine for a long time. Last week the battery was disconnected when the cam censor was removed to to replace the leaking cam seal. The weird dead spot has returned. And that got me thinking, when the 60K was done the battery was disconnected and removed then too. So is there some weird relearn issue in the ecu? Same as before, dead spot at around 3K, only in higher gears. Been driving it so waiting to see if it goes away again.

Just had the car smogged a month or so ago, passed fine, so guessing the cats aren't clogged. I'll have to do some research on intake horns, not sure what those are. As far as I know the car is stock, with the exception of underdrive pulleys, which I didn't add, and someone more knowledgeable about these cars noticed.

did some searching and saw that it could be a cam sensor on it's way out. Car has also gotten very sluggish, but there are no fault codes. Any one?
