If you want to try a different plug, the SP542 might be a candidate, it is 1 range colder, I believe, than the SP534.

Interesting, on Rock Auto the SP534 is $6.64 and SP542 is $6.28.

Is the consensus to still gap at .30?

What did you use for extensions/wobbles?

I used a 5 pack of wobble extensions that I got at harbor freight for like 10 bucks for the set. Longest one was 5-6", but I used mostly combinations of the other 4 extensions to get the back outside plugs.

I retract all past statements I made about the plugs being easy. They are easy when the coils come out the way they should. Got a newer SHO two weeks ago and just did the plugs tonight. The coils felt like they were vacuum locked to the plugs, it took a ridiculous amount of effort to get every single one of them out. Pulling on them so hard you think you are going to break them or damage them. The back passenger side one took a good 10 minutes and a mixture of every swear word to get that thing loose. Took an hour and half or so, when it usually takes closer to 45-50 mins.

Would dielectric grease help to put on for next round, or are the coils hanging onto something else? Thank you

I didn't use any. I'm hoping that by changing them every 10 months or so that they will never get anywhere near that tight again. I think this time they were factory originals and hadn't been touched since the car was built. If I'm wrong and in 10 months they are super tight again, I will use dielectric grease next time.

Yes as long as you change them often they arent that hard to get out, thats why we always recommend not to go over 20k miles with them and to change them out about once a year

I actually did snap one of my coil packs and still couldn't get the darn thing off the plug. I did the front 3 and ended up having the back 3 done at a local shop. They charged me like $50 or something small. Well worth it...I didn't want to spend hours messing with them. This was years ago. But I've probably only put 3-5k miles on my SHO. Hopefully the next time I do them, they come off easier. My car only had approx 22k miles when I got it (2 years old). So not sure if time plays a factor more than mileage?

I've found that this is by far the easiest transvers mounted engine to change plugs. With the right wobble sockets and extension I didn't have to remove anything and just pull the sockets.
30 minute job (for all 3 rear plugs) with 8” wobble extension. Not difficult at all. I put 30K-40K per YEAR on mine. Never had any issues getting coil packs or plugs out.
