I was having trouble with my Microsoft Sync. I have a 2010 SHO. My Bluetooth on my phone was not connecting properly. I determined that it was not the phone. I disconnected the battery for 30 min to reboot the system. It worked.

You can also do a reset on the SYNC system itself instead of disconnecting the battery.

also, the sync system has had significant software upgrades since 2010, so make sure you have the updated s/w in your vehicle.

Also... sometimes just turning the car off, getting out (making sure it's all the way off, etc.) does the trick for phone and radio issues. It's a Windows glitch. (or so I have myself convinced.)

FREE Ford has a sync website that you can download the updates to a clean USB thumbdrive. I also got one sent to me from Ford. Pre WARNING its about a 1-2 hr gig. ( depending what update your installing) so be comfortable, and you can only shut off the ignition after a threshold is passed in the update. do not open/ close doors, hit the brake pedal, or raise or lower window's once it starts. it will tell you all the do not do's ahead of time... the internet download takes under a minute, however once your in the car it's 1-2 hr.'s to load into the cars computer....

Lets all remember as well that the 2010-2012 is different from the 2013+. Ford hasn't really done much with the 10-12. Check the sync website but your probably stuck with what you have.

If you do update, make sure your battery is in a good charge condition. If you have been noticing any unresolved electrical gremlins, and your battery is 2-3 years old, it could die on you during this process.

My wife calls it Microsoft Stink - she hates Sync, how slow/sluggish it is and fussy it is connecting with her iphone...

For those of you that aren't aware, these systems are all actually based on (and get ready for a real shocker)... Microsoft Windows. Yep, you read that right. Whether a 2010 or a 2013+, it's all built on top of Windows. This is true for Fords, Kias, Nissans, and Fiats. It's all Windows. So if you ever wonder why it's "quirky", now ya know. (And also why a periodic reboot is useful.)

Microsoft Windows Automotive 7

Every version of Windows, whether the PC edition, the tablet edition, the phone edition, the CAR edition, or the XBox... are all variations of an essential core Windows operating system.

So, now you can tell your kids that your "Sync" is really an XBox in disguise so maybe they'll like it better. Or maybe not.

That all said, I actually like Sync quite a bit. Once you get used to the quirkiness and how to work around some issues, IMO it's really quite nice. I just never thought in a million years that I'd ever have to reboot my car.
