So eventually I want to add DPs and Meth to my 2015 Taurus SHO non pp that has a Mdesign CAI, JLT 3.0 catch can and JMS boostmax. I know the boostmax isn’t well accepted but I was given the option to try it out from someone and won’t lie it did a lot and I see boost at around 14 psi and I baby the car when it comes to changing her fluids and driving her.

So the question is will meth require additional tuning and which is better bang for buck meth or DPs

Thanks in advance

You need a tune to take advantage of meth, there is some benefit of cooler intake temps but it is used for supplemental fueling. You should have a tune for DPs as well. Meth is a better bang for the buck up front but you will need to keep buying meth as you go through it. Some use 100% meth, some use washer fluid.

Yes, meth requires a tune. Yes, meth will get you more power than DPs. No, you don’t need DPs to take advantage of meth.

Meth does NOT require a tune as long as you keep it below the 50% mixture. But at that point you're really just using it for it's cooling effects and to clean the back of your valves.

In order to get the gains you expect from meth, you do need a tune. If I was modifying you car I would start with a true tune from a tuner that will update as you add more mods (I think all the major tuners offer this), then meth, and finally DPs. A tuner will get you set up to add meth and take full advantage of it. Then meth will give you more bang for your buck than DPs. Then go DPs because it's going to be the bottleneck in the system at that point.

Yes, you could get away without a tune and run meth... but at even 49% mix the WBs will still pick up the extra fuel and the ECU will adjust accordingly.

The biggest issue is not so much your mixture but more how much you spray. If you datalog your car and adjust the spray accordingly you can run it without a tune. Otherwise you have no clue if you are over spraying and causing the ECU to not keep desired AFRs...

Might as well get a tune at the point... and in theory the extra octane from the meth may result in worse performance if not tuned for it.
